The College has a need for stability of staffing within the Health Centre. The medical healthcare of our students is of fundamental importance.
We invite registered nurses or paramedics to commit to shifts with our friendly Health Centre team, on a contracted basis, committing to specific shifts. Available shifts are as follows:
• Thursday nights
• Wednesday nights (alternate)
• Saturday night (currently two weekends a month available)
• Sunday night (currently two weekends a month available)
• Additional hours may be available during our 6-week Summer School programme
We offer modern facilities in a magnificent country setting in rural Hertfordshire, providing a safe and stimulating environment for young minds. Benefits of working here include excellent catering facilities (and free meals), use of sports facilities, a discretionary discount on fees for your children, free parking, access to counselling and health advice helplines, a generous pension contribution, Death in Service Policy and a tax saving salary sacrifice scheme.
Our shift system works on a 12-hour basis, Monday to Sunday: 8am to 8pm, for day shifts, and 8pm to 8am for night shifts. Shifts will be during school term-time only, which means that, during College holidays, you will not be required to work.
A room is provided for sleep-in shifts and the likelihood of disturbance is low, and ordinarily, for minor ailments, possibly requiring a paracetamol. Sleep-in shifts are to accommodate our secondary-school aged pupils, in boarding.
We are particularly keen to cover our weekends and sleep-in night shifts (room provided). There are also opportunities to cover our popular summer school during the summer holidays (with additional pay), should you wish.
Experience in minor illness/injuries or A & E preferred. You will take sole responsibility for the Health Centre whilst on duty, therefore you must be confident in lone working and decision making.
The post involves close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults which will be regulated activity.
Whilst not in a teaching role, as a Registered Nurse / Paramedic, you will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn
Closing date for applications when all forms must be received by HR is: Midday 28th October 2024
Interviews to take place: Shortly after half-term
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Candidates will be required to undergo relevant Safeguarding Checks.
We may seek references on short-listed candidates that will include questions about past disciplinary actions or allegations in relation to behaviour with children and may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications before interview.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
