Part-time Receptionist

(Required for as soon as possible)

St Edmund’s College offers modern facilities in a magnificent country setting in rural Hertfordshire, providing a safe and stimulating environment for young minds.

We require a Receptionist to join our administrative and secretarial team.  The successful candidate will have good computer and general office skills, be able to use their initiative and work with a good degree of flexibility.

This is a varied and interesting role and you must be able to work calmly under pressure in a busy school environment. The main responsibilities are to meet and greet visitors, deal with enquiries on the telephone and face to face and to provide clerical support to the College’s administrative function.

Please note that the post is part-time to work Monday to Friday 1.00pm to 5.30pm, during term time. The role is part of a job-share, with another receptionist covering the afternoons. You will be required to cover sickness and holiday for the other receptionist.

  • Whilst not in a teaching role, as a Receptionist you will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children.  As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.  As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn.
